It's a fucked up world. And it kills me to know that even if do turn off the tv, this shit won't go away.
It's a hot cruel Summer. Dolphin Park caught on fire, Anis just let tiny parts of his shaver fall down the drain in the bathroom sink and his face is half shaven now, Israel is mercilessly attacking civilians in South Lebanon, the rest of the World does not really care, my friend Veridiana came to visit us all the way from Brazil, and we're moving to Doha soon. Doha-ha. We'll be moving right before the Asian Games begin, so good luck in finding honestly priced housing is what everyone's been telling us. They also say Doha is probably the most boring place on the planet. I say we're getting a pretty decent package and good riddance to our former employees in Bahrain. ّ I'll miss the friends we made here, though. But since it is only a 20-minute flight away, my plan is to sneak out to Manama once in a while just to hang with Aicha (while she's here) and Sheyma.

Today i found out i have only been to 6% of the world. not much. i need to get out more
So it's ok to believe that all Israel wants is to save private-whatever-his-name-is. And cut off electricity and water plants and destroy a bridge and bring in war tanks into a neighbouring country. Some 30 years ago, a group of Brazilian students kidnapped the american ambassador in Brazil. I don't recall America destroying Brazil in search for the Ambassador.
What really saddens me is to watch BBC World or Euro News and see how the information is being delivered to the world. It's referred to as " rescue mission".
We're such selfish selfish people. It's not the first time: we turned our backs on Rwanda, we turned our backs on Niger, we choose to believe that America is freeing Iraq, and if even the UN refused to call the Jenin Massacre a massacre ( they called it a tragedy), why should we care about the palestinians?
In the last 48 hours, over 20 civilians have been killed in Gaza. That's like, almost one every 2 hours.
Since I moved to the Arabian Gulf, I know one thing for certain: I know Summer is here because no matter what water tap I open at home, the water will come out hot hot hot. I know that the swimming pool in my building will be hot hot hot after 10am. So what if I get home all sweaty, longing for a cold shower?
This is what you do when you want to have a cold shower during Summer: keep the water heating system switched off. Then when you want a cold shower, or cold water from the tap, open the hot water faucet. Cold water will come out of it . ( Alternatively, if you wish for hot water, open the cold water faucet. )
But be quick. Once you empty the "hot" water container, hot water will flow out, this time, real hot water, water that is supposed to be cold but has been heat up by the sun. So enjoy those 10 minutes of cold water while they last. Things should go back to normal by November.
These days everyone is an internet celebrity. What about me? Well, quiet and excited, here i am, world wide web! I am yours for the taking, I guess. Being part of the poverty jet-set, we the people who travel and move around need a point of reference, a semi-permanent address, a bunker to call " home". So this is it. Sometimes I will be posting in English, sometimes in Portuguese, and hopefully, in a not so distant future, in Arabic. Over time, I will try to translate every post so that all my friends can read them. Or not. We'll see. As of now, welcome to the little blog that could...
